Some of my favorite features and why:

1. Bins with LIDS at the top. Pulling something down above your head can be tricky so lids help a lot with that. And keep these items dust free!

2. If you know me you know I love purses. Always have. I literally have more purses than shirts 😂. I love that we added little battery operated lights and created this zone to display them. It makes me happy!

3. Custom built pull out shoe trays. One of the things I really wanted was 24” deep sections for clothes so that they fit in the cabinetry. With that though, the shelves above and below would also be 24” and I knew it would be hard to keep things from getting lost in the back. Enter pull out shelves. 2 pairs of shoes fit front and back and are easy to pull out. One of my favorite parts!

4. I love my little jewelry section. The tiny little command hooks are so fun and easy to access!

Finally putting the finishing touches on MY closet.

Seeing so many beautiful closets in this job was giving me major envy. So when we were planning our renovations I knew this room was particularly important to me.

I am fairly minimalist when it comes to clothes and shoes, so it didn’t need to be big. But I wanted FUNCTION.

I spent hundreds of hours drafting how to best utilize the space and make sure everything we had would fit and have a home.

After designing the space my husband and I went back and forth on if we wanted to hire a closet company, cabinet maker, or finish carpenter build out this space.

BUT… we’re pretty handy. So we decided why not build it ourselves? 🙈😂

I have to say of all the projects this was definitely my favorite DIYs we’ve ever done.

And we did build it all. From framing the base, to cutting and measuring the MDF boards. Priming, patching, caulking and painting. To adding the lights and all the accessory attachments we did it all! (Ok the drawers are actually an IKEA dresser we framed in to look built in but besides that!) Blood sweat and tears and a month of hard work. Totally worth it!
