Colorful Toy Storage

One of our latest projects in South Jordan, Utah, was this spectacular playroom storage closet transformation. This job was for a family of seven, five kiddos, ranging from early teens all the way down to the sweet age of five.

As we chatted during the consultation, we discussed what was working and what wasn’t. (Honestly not much was actually working, with the exception of the great closet space itself, lined with shelves all around). Sadly, this closet wasn’t being utilized properly for this family’s maximum enjoyment. Almost all of their beloved book collection was keeping space in a large Rubbermaid bin, the shelves were being haphazardly used and it was becoming an unmanageable chaos for the whole family.

As always with our clientele, carefully curated bins were chosen not only for a custom aesthetic but also for ease of function. We had been asked to work on limiting the bottom line of this overall project, so the bins we used worked really well in that category too.

Our kind client had pulled everything out of this space for us upon arrival and worked nearby, sorting her books out into piles. In the end the books were tucked on a shelf behind the door with some family game space above it. We left her a keepsake bin for each kiddo on the top shelf, where we could see books and toys being added as children grow and change. We used the frosted y-weave bins from Target, in a variety of sizes and white bin clips to tie everything together.

In the end, we loved the softly muted colorful look and even better, our client said she was thrilled with the results and couldn’t wait for kids to come home after school for the big reveal. A job well done indeed.

My name is Sasha. I am a wife to my high-school sweetheart of 30 years and mother to two amazing Army kids. I’m one of the newest members of the Orderly team. I cut my teeth on the organizing gig after a decade of this job in the glorious PNW. I learned the importance of form + function while working for my first organizing job, and then coupled that with learning the art of luxury and esthetics for my second job. Together, I enjoy bringing the balance of both previous companies to my clients here in Utah and finding ways to solve problems beautifully.
