I’m about to blow your mind by sharing one of my favorite organizing products that not only won’t break the bank, it will also work in just about any drawer in your home…. It’s got to be the spring-loaded drawer divider.
I know you could spend gobs of money and time putting in small containers. (And while I do use and love those) there is a massive case for the simplicity of using a divider. We tend to over complicate things in life, and organizing a home can follow suit. We feel that we need to try all of the latest and greatest that social media has to offer. Sometimes keeping it simple is the best approach however.
And to prove my point, I’m about to open several drawers in my (very real life) home to back this up. I opted for pull-out drawers in the majority of my kitchen design, and I also opted for zero upper cabinets. I am only 5’1″, and there is almost no point to an upper cabinet in my world. Drawers, however, keep both myself and my 6′ husband happy with their ease. I’ve utilized their efficiency to corral mugs, jars of ingredients, to separate spices, create zones, keep glassware from tipping, divide a drawer with serving spoons of various lengths and even to keep acrylic divider trays in place. I’ve added deep dividers into linen storage and can honestly say that it’s my favorite method, after a decade in the organizing business.
In closing, I’d like to say that there are really only a few drawers in my home that haven’t benefitted from the use of this product. If you’re looking for an almost one-size-fits all solution, you may have just found it. Pro tip, though, from learning this the hard way…do measure the inner length of your drawers and don’t ever assume they are the same. Measure twice, buy once as they say. Happy organizing!

My name is Sasha. I am a wife to my high-school sweetheart of 30 years and mother to two amazing Army kids. I’m one of the newest members of the Orderly team. I cut my teeth on the organizing gig after a decade of this job in the glorious PNW.
